September 29th, 1998 was arguably one of the greatest album release dates in hip hop history. The following five albums dropped and became the inspiration for our September Supper Club, they are: Brand Nubian Foundation, A Tribe Called Quest The Love Movement, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Black Star, Outkast Aquemini and Jay Z Vol. 2… Hard Knock Life.

DEFinition Wings – Middle Eastern Spices, Lemon Mint Lebna

Brown Skin Lady – Heirloom Tomatoes, Burrata, Balsamic Glaze

Inspired by Black Star lyrics: “Fresher than Tony Rebel’s vegetables at African street festivals, where incredible women is, plentiful.”

Hard Knock Rice – Hanger Steak, Butter & Herb Rice

Inspired by the lyrics: “I don’t know how to sleep, I gotta eat, stay on my toes. Got a lotta beef, so logically, I prey on my foes”

 

Money, Cash, Ho-Hos – Cocoa, CFH Butter, Jet Puff

Inspired by Jay Z lyrics: “flavors robust, platinum and gold dust”
